MOSCOW
Dmitry Bulin “The Birth of Venus” (Дмитрий Булин “Рождение Венеры”)
Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow , located near Kropotkinskaya station, is dedicated to the art of photography. I was lucky enough to visit the Photobiennale 2023. This photo exhibition takes place in Moscow only once every two years. What I saw was innovative, fascinating, and purely beautiful.
What you see are two pictures from the “The Beauty for Five Dollars” series by Dmitry Bulin. The author portrays the reality of the never-ending obsession with looking perfect. The aesthetic of these photos is exceptional.
Thoughts:
We all become very vulnerable when it comes to things we really, really want. We believe in the most ridiculous things, allowing others to fool us into thinking that there are magical shortcuts, that a cheap price can provide high quality, and that a five-dollar nose mask can somehow change our bone structure.
In the end, we feel naive, we feel fooled, and we have to accept that we allowed people to manipulate our insecurities. Thus, we gave them the power to navigate our decisions. We feel shame, and then we regret, we regret, we regret.
Another magnificent exhibition is by Gabrielle Galimberti: ” Home Pharma.”
Thoughts:
You can see the reflection of the world’s differences. Looking at the photos, your mind opens, and you go, “huh…”. We all live through our own prism. In Russia, there’s an abundance of medications, pills, syrups, and all sorts of treatments and medical services. Meanwhile, in many countries, people still use traditional medicine.
Once, my friend from South Africa said, “Whenever you feel unwell, drink guava juice.”
